"NYC Marathon Here in Mtn View"
Long-time Mountain View resident and NYC Marathon runner Lynda Turkus was one of the 38,000 athletes on hand to witness Super Storm Sandy's terrible destruction earlier this month. When the race was cancelled Lynda made sure her original donations were delivered to Team for Kids. Then, on Nov 18 she brought the spirit of rebuilding through the streets of her St. Francis Acres neighborhood - and a little beyond. With the help of family and friends, Lynda ran a mapped 26.2-mile course - this time for "Race for Recovery", the marathoners' fund to help the victims of the hurricane. She finished big, just in front of her house, amidst cheering well-wishers in a time of 6 hours 22 min. For donation info go to
