Mountain View's SETI Institute receives $200 million to search for extraterrestrial intelligent life

For nearly 40 years, the SETI Institute, a non-profit research organization in Mountain View, has been searching for intelligent life forms beyond Earth. A philanthropic gift of $200 million is bringing this quest closer to reality.

I've visited their radio telescope array - it's in Hat Creek WAY OFF in the far Noth East of the state, far from most radio interference. About 50 miles NE of Redding / as the crow flies.

Thanks for story, glad to hear their major sponsors are still behind them.

What a tremendous waste of resources. Could have been used for so many other important real world problems on earth.
