I live less than a mile away, but in Mountain View…so I was unaware of this future construction..I assume that the environmental impact on the nearly Bay Lands was considered? Something tells me we’ll have fewer geese, ducks and pelicans on the nearby water with all that construction and the additional car traffic…

This project is awesome, though seems costly, ... wonder that the homeless or unhoused / vehicle or motorhome dweller condition is being monetized, all over the country, for someone or corporation, somewhere getting $$ ????♂️
It just might be a lot less costly $$, to use unused lands to create Safe Parking for pay for vehicle dwellers????♂️. Most can afford, say $500 per month, then for 100 dwellers in one Safe Parking, that is $50,000 per month, $600,000 per year ????♂️. They could hire, say 6 individuals (vehicle dwellers), at $50,000 each, that is about $25 per hour ????♂️, one can't pay Mountain View / Bay area rents on that income. They could provide basic security 24/7 , maintenance and cleaning (maybe cleaning restrooms and showers twice as day) ????♂️. That would use up $300,000, and the other $300,000 can be used to provide, basic services, like: potable Water, garbage collection, showers, restrooms, motorhome dump stations, perhaps solar stations for people to charge portable power stations in the day time, to use in the evenings in their vehicles ????♂️. This seems, it can be financially self sustaining at no expense to the cities ????♂️. Unless case workers and a highly compensated manager burns the $$ ????♂️.
People that have resorted to Urban living, do so because of very high rents $$. Rents mostly seem to go to corporations that build the expensive huge complexes for huge monetization $$ ????♂️.
The realiy is, that no case worker can manage increasing the income of the homeless or unhoused / vehicle or motorhome dweller income, to transition to pay the Bay area super high rentals $$ ????♂️????♂️.

Ray, yes, there are several reasons why this isn't the greatest site for this project. Fortunately, construction will be short and any spooked wildlife will come back when it's over. But most of the Palo Alto City Council wouldn't be caught dead voting for a project like this anywhere near where people live. It's almost like transitional-housing residents aren't people.
