Quake alert from Sacramento County sparks confusion among Bay Area residents

An emergency alert for an earthquake in Sacramento County reached Bay Area residents’ phones Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., causing confusion among residents who were not close enough to the earthquake to feel it.

Confusion would have been less if the quake had shown up in the ShakeAlert map right away so we could see where it was and get updates on the revised magnitude. But it still was not there hours later. I turned to other sources to learn it was not as big as first reported.
