A break for renters? California considers reining in high security deposits

A bill would hold security deposits to one month's rent, not three. The California Apartment Association says it could drive up rents, making it harder to find a home.

Security payments are lterallly taking money away from tenants.

Because all landlords will deduct money from them at end of contracts.

And the money is not owned by the tenants ever during renting.

This was a SLUSH fund disguised as a security deposit. And there have been many cases where when landlords close shop, the money disappears.
