Settlement clears way for José Andrés restaurant to cook with gas in Palo Alto

Faced with a threat of a lawsuit, city administrators have reversed their earlier decision and will now allow the new restaurant that chef José Andrés plans to open at Stanford Shopping Center to use natural gas.

Pleased that the city of Palo Alto reversed their decision for Chef Jose Andreas. Now they need to do it for the rest of Palo Alto residents. The notion that you can eliminate gas appliances throughout Palo Alto is ridiculous. Imagine if your electrical power went out for 3 days (or longer).

Seems strange that a chef who is world-famous for helping victims of natural disasters would be insistent on running restaurants in a way that causes even more emissions, more climate disruptions and more disasters. Maybe he could at least pay for some carbon offsets to make up for the damage his restaurants are doing.
