Santa Clara County supervisors green-light public health assessment of Latino and Hispanic residents

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors this week greenlit the creation of a new, comprehensive assessment of the health of the Latino/Hispanic community in the county, something that hasn't been done in over 10 years.

I hope this assessment 'focuses down' on the status of heath effects on the school attendance of our elementary students. The sharp rise in SERIOUS missed school days ("chronically absent") in MVWSD, particularly Castro elementary (last year 33.1% category "very high" / state-wide 35.4% for Hispanics) hinders learning. Chronic absence means > 10% of school learning days missed.
