I have never attended an ECH Board Meeting, but I've attended dozens of other civic agency Board meetings and the way Ms. Kliger was treated raises serious red flags. I hope the Voice will continue to report on the aftermath of their decision. I believe that the Los Altos-Mtn. View League of Women Voters usually has a non-partisan observer at ECH Board Meetings and I hope that person will add their thoughts.

It's a good reason not to vote for Miller when he seeks reelection. These boards can get complacent when the members have long tenures. Really there's not much reason to allow the district board members to also sit on the hospital board. They are two different functions really. All the elected members should be deliberating about any choice of extra members, and it should be a public deliberation.

The fact that Miller put herself on the ad hoc committee should alarm the public. It appears to be a power play to rid herself of a Board Member with which she may have a disagreement? If so, that is unprofessional and also very destructive to what is best for the public. Kliger's experience, background and education are highly valuable and an important benefit to the public - that should override any personal disagreement Miller has with Kliger.
This Board is to do what is best for the public, and it seems that certainly was not done. If there is nothing to hide here, then let's have transparency and hear the arguments for denying Kliger's reappointment. If this isn't made public, all the excuses in the world will not blot out that there is something to hide.
