Need to get around in Palo Alto? This month, catch a ride in free, on-demand Teslas

Palo Alto's new shuttle system, Palo Alto Link, launched its pilot program Tuesday with a small fleet of Teslas moving through the city.

Palo Alto is now paying for taxi rides? I can think of a few better places to park that money.

Wow, I so disagree with you ivg. I think this service looks fantastic, I wish we could have it in Mountain View. I'm surprised by your reaction.

The service is only free for the first month, apparently as an incentive to get people to try it. There is an ongoing fee structure, described in the article. $3.50 per ride, with weekly and monthly programs available.

This could be a fantastic way to get people out of their own personal cars, which would then alleviate the need for parking spaces. And since Teslas are electric vehicles, it's also a win for the planet when a gas vehicle stays off the street.

What's not to like?
