I am very glad to see that work is being done to address this very unfortunate gap in our public education system. Students not only need to be screened early but there also needs to be an appropriate program in place to educate dyslexic students. My son did not know the alphabet by the end of Kindergarten (despite our efforts and being in good preschools), and the reading troubles ensued from there until he was very behind in reading by the 3rd grade and losing confidence as a student. For the remainder of elementary school, he was pulled out of his class during art, music, and PE for "extra help" and missed a crucial part of his early education. That should not happen to any child. We need to fix this in California!!
