What's it like to serve on the Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury? Here's a peek behind the curtain

Unlike being selected for jury duty, serving on the Santa Clara Civil Grand Jury is a voluntary commitment that former members say is a great way to become more civically engaged. The court is accepting applications right now.

Thanks for this great reporting, on a little appreciated 'cog' in our democratic machine.

(Why under Elections category?]. This body is one of the few that can 'prod' our elected bodies to do much better jobs for us, the citizens and other residents of Santa Clara County. The law is, these bodies Must Answer to reports. Or course - if you do read some political body answers - you can see that some of these elected leaders (and their administrators) Don't Like Criticism.

The bodies official written answers must be approved by Recorded Vote. So somtimes, any Nays might just highlight those members that recognize 'there could be improvement'.
