This is an important and necessary step to slow, and eventually stop, climate change due to over-emission of carbon dioxide, methane, and other greenhouse gasses. I'm glad to be living in a state whose leaders understand that steps like this are absolutely necessary, and not just in California.

WIth PG&E being the model of efficiency and safety, I can only imagine that further taxing the existing electrical grid will be without any issues.

It's easy to wave your hands and say that electricity is clean because we have solar, hydro, etc. If they don't tell you where exactly the new electricity will come from to power all those cars, they're hiding something. Solar roofs won't save us. We need to build grid-scale renewable energy sources, which are less popular with Bay Area voters than electric-car mandates.

Governor Newson's 'executive order' punishes consumers who drive (or prefer to drive a vehicle) powered by fossil fuels.

Fossil fuels can never be fully removed from our existence and everyday life.

Imagine the military operating on electric vehicles during wartime or electric commercial passenger planes.

Why should the common man bear the full responsibility for eradicating global warming and climate change?

And what about the other countries like India and China that continue to burn coal?

Anything is possible in the long term, including hydrogen-powered airplanes.
