State attorney general launches investigation into Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office

State Attorney General Rob Bonta on Wednesday announced his office is opening a civil rights investigation into the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office over allegations that include misconduct in county jails.

ah -the AG "can compel the correction of systemic violations." Not so 'compelling'!

I think I much better like the power of a civil jury to remove Smith from office under the indictment that she just underwent via the Santa Clara 2021 Civil Grand Jury system. [reported by this and other news sources]. The 'formal referral' of this problem to the CGJ by a majority of our Board of Supervisors is what eventually will/might make a difference. IMO
