Council member Emily Beach is the most well-rounded in non-political qualifications among these early and distinguished candidates. Outside of city council, she was a former Army captain, and worked in both the tech industry and public education/family advocacy.

This is strictly a San Mateo County issue as the successor will have no impact on Mountain View residents.
