I’m glad that the executive director resigned. Obviously, he didn’t have his “eye on the ball.” However, that doesn’t let Pets In Need off the hook. If the people who were responsible for the care of those dogs used any common sense at all, those dogs would be alive today. For that reason, those people should be shown the door.

What is clear is that if these 3 managers had stuck to the plans for the trip and only picked up 21 dogs, then the puppies would have not been on the trip. They'd likely be euthanized though by now. They let the potential euthanize factor sway their plans and tried to cram more dogs into the trip than had been planned. Likely it would have been a while before they could have gone back for the puppies and since they needed veterinary treatment, the originating shelter would likely have put them down by then.
