Sheriff comes under fire from county supervisors who want investigation into jails made public

In a stinging rebuke of Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith, two county supervisors are proposing the public release of a confidential report related to county jail operations.

Why is this report "confidential" in the first place?

This is a tax payer funded agency (the Sheriff) running our tax payer funded jails. We paid for a report.

I would like to see what is in that report.

There is only one reason that report isn't being made public. If it said the jails were being running perfectly it would have been released immediately.

Enough with hiding stuff from ourselves.
