The HSR was over promised and under budgeted. Even the current highly compromised plan is a poor value. The right answer is for the state to cancel HSR and to pay off its debt and pension obligations before those become the next figurative train wreck.

The fact that BART, "Bay Area Rapid Transit", somehow does not extend to the parts of the Bay Area with some of the biggest employers in the region, like Facebook, Google, Intel, Apple, Cisco, Nividia, etc, (apologies if I left out your favorite tech behemoth) means to me that our Bay Area reps (as well as the executives at aforementioned companies, and others) should figure out a way to make transit in the Bay Area actually work before spending another penny on the Madera to Shafter corridor.

the article correctly states that most projects start in the populated areas and then radiate out. The Caltrain Downtown Extension should be near the very top of the priority list. The fact that there is a multibillion dollar transit center with no trains is absurd

Hi-Speed Rail was presented with NO details, we definitely need to invest in local public transportation, who was the transit planner who thought it was a good idea to dump passengers outside the SF ballpark at the end of the line. It should connect to a hub that then connects passengers to transportation throughout the city, we also need the extend BART to Marin (apparently there was a plan to do that Web Link SF needs to grow up, REAL Cities have transit that works, such as Chicago, Boston, NYC, Seattle, London, Sydney....and many more. Kill Hi-Speed rail.
