Re:”Smokey air” Please note that the Bay Area has myriad microclimates. Because of the microclimates, the “official@ air quality reading can be nearly meaningless unless you are very close to one of the sensors. Check this out for yourself! For example the closest “official” reading for Mountain View is in *Redwood City* and routinely varies significantly (higher OR lower) from loca reading on Pirple Air and similar sensors. Would I prefer to depend on official air quality sensors- yes, of course, but they are too few an far between to count on them. This, we have a Purple Air in our back yard, as do many of our neighbors and that makes a difference! You do not have to have a unit to look at the Purple Air data - it’s free. I do not work for or get any rewards for these comments about Purple Air, I have just observed the official and other data over several bad air fire seasons and reached logical conclusions.
