MVLA seems to be vying to be literally the last school district in the nation to reopen. Don’t be fooled by the current “reopening” plan. These “learning pods” are nothing more than organized study halls for teenagers. But MVLA will say this means they’ve “reopened”, and when many kids opt out of the learning pods because the kids are smart enough to know it’s a dumb model and not a replacement for hybrid or full return to school, the teachers unions will say “see, the kids don’t want to go back so we should stay closed.” Meanwhile, millions of kids around the country — including many thousands of high schools - are back in school with their teachers, while the public schools in the heart of Silicon Valley can’t get it together. I’d bet anything that this incompetent school board and superintendent won’t be ready with a real plan to even open in the Fall, a full 18 months after this started. It’s a disgrace. I don’t know if it’s possible to recall a school board, but if it is then sign me up.

Perhaps the funding should be tied to the students. It would then go to whichever school the children attend, whether it is a public school or to a private or charter school if some children move, or have already moved, to a different school during the pandemic.
