So now CA is rewarding people to illegally crossed the border into the US? I'd suspect that there are plenty of other legal residents who could benefit from that additional funding. I can really see why the Recall Newsom effort has been so successful.

And we is Human. At least some of us have compassion. Reasonably compasionate state program. Protect the general Welfare.
A Path to LEGALITY! (good new law - that could male it through the 50:50 US Senate, without a GOP filibuster.)
A Path to Citizenship? Ah, the GOP under President Ronald Regan tried that, it it has not worked over the long term. Otherwise known (properly) as illegal immigration "amnesty".
AMNESTY! Don't go there! If you actually want "normalization" of the legal status of "undocumented (hard, law-abiding) workers". Amnesty is '"a bridge TOO far" and will absolutely not pass the US Senate. It is a fool's errand.

Paying illegal immigrants to come and stay here is part of a conspiracy adding up to long-term vote fraud. Meanwhile the violent crime of drunk driving is not a deportable offense hereabouts.
Bambi is still dead, as well.
