As an older senior isolated solo for a year I ask 1) all providers of vaccine to talk with each other and get on the same page with the same message. This is a national emergency not a marketing opportunity. 2) Be transparent 3) share one functioning telephone system, and one functioning online appointment schedule 4) not expect older seniors to drive 30 miles or take 3 changes of public transport to an unfamiliar place for vaccine. We can take the truth, no matter how bitter.

Hmm. I don't buy the thesis statement here. I have filled out the sign-up sheets for county COVID vaccinations many times, and they don't ask anything about who your doctor is. Has the journalist taken a look at the actual sign-up process? I highly recommend it. Very revealing. There are questions about age, employment, and race, (I especially recommend exploring this in terms of getting an appointment), but no questions about who one's doctor might be. So my guess is that, while the county might PREFER it if people who have doctors would not sign up through the county, they are not actually turning people away. And that is important--and factual--information to deliver to the public.
