Los Altos school district Superintendent Baier has apparently been directing an excellent, even exemplary reopening response. Administrative experience can matter. There is also a very informed way LASD is handling the 'everyone looks at risk differently' problem in its community. UNLIKE Palo Alto USD, the in and out of 100% home learning isolation or 'blended' sometimes in-person is not forced One or The Other Forever! There is a try for 6 week plan, with choice of enrollment options. Very innovative!

The PAUSD superintendent seems to not understand this. In press coverage preceding today's PAUSD board meeting, their superintendent is being (to me) obstinate in the face of his parent community. Come on - minority needs and fears can be accommodated.

It seems to me that opening schools is a bad idea. I recently read that the second wave of the pandemic could be stronger and more dangerous for young people. I continue to use online resources Web Link for education and this is the right direction. Schools must minimize risks and schools must modify their education system. We are writing a new history of Internet copywriting.

Although schools are opening, I do not think it will be long, because the pandemic has not yet passed and due to large crowds of students everything will gain momentum. And such instability is very bad, because every time students need to get used to a new format of education, which has a negative impact on their success.
