State's new new system for countywide reopenings dumps watchlists for color-coding

Original post made on Aug 31, 2020

A color-coded, four-level tier system will replace the state's COVID-19 watchlist in an effort to create a "more stringent, but more steady" process that determines when counties can move forward with indoor business operations.

By definition, the Positive Test count methodology undercounts the most recent 5-7 days, as the number reported today gets assigned back to the date of the actual test. So the most recent 5 days are incomplete and undercounted; the results of today's testing won't get assigned to today until the test results are analyzed several days from now.

Can we presume that the State counting calculations will not include the most recent 5 days, since including them would result in erroneous under-reporting?

Arbitrary criteria with no explanation or reasoning. Misleading, pessimistic, and ghastly colors. This seems like a product of the Newsom administration.

As more data is gathered and disseminated by the CDC, the pandemic reaction by the state is looking more and more overbearing and counterproductive.

Well, there's Dan Waylonis's assessment in September. Let's take a look at what he had to say way back in April towards the beginning of the pandemic:

"I'd recommend not fixating on predictions and instead make sure that you practice the level of sequestration that you feel comfortable with. Wash your hands. Stay home if you're sick or at risk."

One might expect him to have adjusted his diagnosis now that 180K Americans are dead from the disease. But not Dan!

This is an interesting article discussing testing:

Web Link

And this study seems to poke a whole in the “everything indoors is evil” theory that are county is operating under.

I thought our counties decisions are “data driven”.
I guess only when the data supports the county health departments draconian measures

In response to Victor :

You PROVE my POINT, testing is NOT control over COVID. It is just attempts to detect it. The fact is that we are flying blind towards a mountain. As far as the report you discussed that ONE salon succeeded in preventing spread of COVID 19 between two co-workers.

You are trying to make a mountain out of a dust particle. It would be valid if:

EVERYONE wears masks the correct way ALL the time.

EVERYONE minimizes close contact (less than 6 foot) to the extent that no one can spread the virus.

EVERY business practices environmental sanitization at least to the extent that after EACH customer a workplace is sanitized.

EVERY indoor air environment is providing air filtration or sterilization continuously.

Victor, is this actually happening?

Yes the testing is not good, that is on the responsibility of the developers and the government that regulated and approved the testing. Oh, that is Donald Trump’s administration.

Please be careful EVERYONE?

"As far as the report you discussed that ONE salon succeeded in preventing spread of COVID 19 between two co-workers."

what the report really says:

"What is already known about this topic?

Consistent and correct use of cloth face coverings is recommended to reduce the spread of SARS-CoV-2.

What is added by this report?

Among 139 clients exposed to two symptomatic hair stylists with confirmed COVID-19 while both the stylists and the clients wore face masks, no symptomatic secondary cases were reported; among 67 clients tested for SARS-CoV-2, all test results were negative. Adherence to the community’s and company’s face-covering policy likely mitigated spread of SARS-CoV-2."

The Trump administration is readying a VACCINE for distribution without any long trials. The ingredients are a secret. Patent pending. But sources close to the lab say researchers are calling the vaccine "SUGAR, SUGAR" named after a song from many years ago. Trump: a true hero.

It will be nice to have actual "fast tests" rather than one person at-a-time PCR genetic testing [ with 14 day results]. With a CDC controlled by a Trump "presidential" Task Force, as he is in control of a "Justice?" Department, I do not expect much health care science to control how "the Feds" will come to our aid. Our Governor stumbles, maybe a bit again - but it is like taking a Hill # in WW1 or Korea, defended by machine guns in the dark. (Trump's science) With your own side sniping at YOU!

If you know exactly (or with 85% accuracy) where the enemy actually is, you are on the way to winning. If you have RADAR, you are on the way to not flying into the Hill.

The newest system is an improvement. RIGHT DIRECTION
