Glad that the local public (health) policy and administration environment here - was more conducive to (health) science that San Benito County. A scientificly illiterate businessman/politician got his wish (fire the nay-sayer). May the people of his San Benito district vent their just wrath on his incompetent self-interest at the next election!

I view the politicization of the COVID-19 issue as an example of Darwinism in action. Those who choose to ignore science are also choosing to risk removing themselves from the human gene pool. The tragedy is that clueless political decisions have life-or-death consequences. Too many decisions are based in binary black/white thinking when there are shades of gray. There is a balance between "opening up the economy" and "everyone sheltering" but nobody in power seems interested in thinking about that, or listening to advice that doesn't conform to black-and-white thinking.

We are fortunate to have you here Dr. Fenstersheib. My opinion, not as a heath professional, but as a numbers guy, in a county with 2M people, we need far more testing than a mere 4,000/day. + from what I understand, we need much faster turn around on test results. Also, to really understand the penetration of C-19, we need anti-body tests which seem to be pretty much unobtainable. Hope you can take the next steps in this regard!
