I agree about the high police costs. However you can’t have both increased housing supply and rent control. Pick one.

In response to Dan Waylonis you said

Costa Hawkins in 1995 we PICKED no rent control, then what happened? NO increased affordable housing supplies came. In fact it got worse and worse, only luxury units were built and no affordable units were approved.

That argument has been proven false and you know it.

YES you can have increased supply with rent control. Just not with the developers that California has been allowing to dictate the nature of the projects. TIME to dictate the projects, their kinds of housing, and the affordability.

Time to throw away the developers, we don’t need them, find better developers and skip the ones that don’t provide affordable housing.

Since the bay area is short 700k affordable housing units. The Governments should not allow any luxury housing until that number is at least cut in half. The fact is state laws are requiring it now, but the Cities are not in compliance.

Mr. Lashee is a member of the local chapter of the "Democratic Socialists of America." So, voters could research group. I suspect, though, that most voters will be mostly interested in where candidates truly stand on city issues starting with the 2 city ballot measures. We know what to expect from incumbents: more of the same. Others should explain what else specifically should be happening and why. Candidates particularly should consider and address what the city government should be doing amid the Covid-19 pandemic and later - learning from this pandemic. Simply going back to business and schooling and gatherings as usual would be shortsighted and foolish.
