Park Users: The grass is not hot lava

Original post made by Cuesta Stoller, Cuesta Park, on Jul 23, 2020

With so many people using our parks it's more important than ever to do what we can to create that needed 6 feet of distance, especially in parks with many walkers, runners and cyclists not using masks.
For people walking on pathways in parks, sometimes this means you'll need to step off the pavement onto the lawn.

I'm shocked by how many people refuse to get off the path when things become crowded. In Cuesta Park for example, I see it constantly; you could have two groups of two walking side by side in opposite directions and then someone rolling through on a bike as well. I don't know if it's stubbornness or ignorance, but for whatever reason, nobody steps onto the grass to create the needed space, and then social distancing fails as everyone involved brushes past each other, maybe a foot or 2 apart.

Park users, the paved path is not a road and you will not crash by taking two steps onto the lawn. It's lovely to walk on grass actually, you may enjoy it. I've seen bikes head onto the grass to avoid un-moving people and it looks much more difficult for them, but kudos for them for understanding.

For walkers its MUCH more simple: Please step onto the grass!

What's with this behavior? People act like trains locked onto a track when they get onto the paths. Step aside people. Make the room by moving yourself sideways. The joggers are the worst.
