How 12 million pounds of food get distributed during a pandemic

Since the coronavirus hit the Bay Area, ushering in a shutdown that's ravaging local businesses and spiking unemployment, Second Harvest has seen an astronomical rise in demand for food assistance.

Prompted by the success of Cuesta Park's recent food drives, Monta Loma did one this week and intends to do more in the future. Neighbors felt really good about being able to do something to help! We collected 2,316 pounds of canned/dried food and 30 pounds of fresh fruit, enough food for 300-400 meals. I encourage other neighborhoods to organize one. It's very rewarding!
