Great news! I hope many people (maybe up to 200?) can get tested Memorial Day in the four hours of mobile van operation. But... the two Verily sites cap at 300/day. And County Testing Officer Dr. Marty Fenstersheib wants frontline heath care workers to get tested once per month at either site. Maybe 3,000 of those workers reduces available tests by 150/day for the 20 days/month the testing sites are open. So that provides at most, lessee, 300+300+200 (mobile van) - 150: 650 tests/day.
We have a long way to go to reach Santa Clara County's goal of 4,000 tests per day.

Sara Cody needs to take responsibility for Santa Clara County's dismal response to provide testing. Really, a mini van in Mountain View at a park for 4 hours on Memorial Day?, that's it? that's the best we can do? County public health officials need to work with county supervisors, congressional district leaders and state officials to secure supplies. Other counties have done a much better job. If Sara wants 4000 tests per day before the county starts opening, she should be offering tests all across the county. Blame the orange man if that makes you feel safer, however the county public health director needs to start moving. Sara should talk with Gavin, Joe, and Ro Khanna.

Sara says-"just stay home" while she puts her fingers in her mouth . Please Sara, do something positive like securing tests for Santa Clara County. It's your job to get us to 4000 tests per day so we can get back to work.

Perhaps the View @Kevin Forestieri can go take some pictures and write a follow up story when the mobile testing van rolls into Mountain View and get some real information like number of people served in that four hour period and test results stating how long it takes for them to be returned and the rest of the metrics.

In Santa Clara County, one month ago, the tests had ramped up to just under
1000 tests per day. Now they are doing more like 2000 tests per day. They
feel that their capacity is not being used, and they have trouble getting
people to come in. On Sunday so far they have reported 2107 tests with 14 positive
results and 4 results pending. This would include the results from the
van in Mountain View. In the 4 days leading up to Sunday, the fewest
tests conducted was 1683 and the highest 2176. The positivity rate has
been between 1 and 2 percent. One thing they are looking at is which
areas have a higher positivity. They will try to do more tests there.
The aim is to let as many people as possible know they have the virus so
they can self isolate. They have over 30 fixed testing locations operating
plus the mobile van. There are several in Mountain View.
