I guess all the inmates who came in contact with these correctional officers just dont matter! There are inmates in elmwood that have way to high of a bail. That have health conditions that put them more at risk! This virus is dangerous and you people should give every human being the same rights to protect themselves an there loved ones!

This interim policy makes sense. We do not want officers or jails holding people unnecessarily for offenses or on warrants where they would soon be released anyway. We do not want more people to get sick with Covid-19 in jail facilities. Field testing of arrestees could also be helpful. But then a policy will be needed regarding what to do with an arrestee who tests positive. There are drawbacks to fewer arrestees being taken to jail. But every policy involves tradeoffs.
