What happened to the comments that were here yesterday afternoon? Perfectly civil discussion of some topics spun off from the article.
If the comments were intentionally deleted, I am astonished (in view of all the political snipes and rambling eccentricities left intact on so many article comment pages here).

An extra string is created when, for example, a comment is posted on an item that appears in the PRINT VERSION online. I just created a new string on the report of $500,000 being allocated at Tuesday's City Council meeting for a little - very little - tenant assistance.
