Can we get in our car and drive out of this area? I'd like to hike in a remote area 2 hours away.

Just took a short walk in Monta Loma. Parents, please teach your young children about social distancing when they are outside. They certainly do not have to do this at home but when outside yes. I had several small children wonder by me or in one case run by me in a group. They do not understand and need to be taught some new norms for being outside. Many thanks from an older one. We are better together when separate.

Just got back from a nice, long SOLO bicycle ride. Little traffic and cool weather make it the perfect time to get out and get some exercise.
I saw a lot of folks walking - couples hand-in-hand, dog walkers, and several instances of dads and their kids riding bikes or just playing.
I thought to myself, "This is great, families playing together. I feel like I just woke up and found myself in Europe."
So take care of yourself and avoid others - except family of course - who you probably live with so you've already been "exposed" anyhow.

Read the "shelter in place" order yourself: Web Link
Specifically, it allows you to leave your residence to perform the listed "Essential Activities", which includes:
"To engage in outdoor activity, provided the individuals comply with Social Distancing Requirements as defined in this Section, such as, by way of example and without limitation, walking, hiking, or running."
FWIW, there was plenty of parking at Rancho San Antonio this morning. Complying with the Social Distancing Requirements was pretty easy.

What the shelter in place ordinance means for the homeless: no access to public bathrooms, for RV dwellers, still need to move their "shelter" every 72 hours. Other cities have deployed porta-potties and suspended all parking limit rules. Mountain View should follow suit.

Is leaf blowing an essential service? Our complex has 5-6 guys who come over once a week all in the same truck to mow the lawns and blow the leaves away. Not that there's that many this time of year, but still... Is this essential or not?
