In December the Voice posted an article stating that rising costs were forcing cutbacks on Meals on Wheels, a vital program for the elderly.

So the county can't afford to help our own elderly, most who've been paying taxes their entire lives, but we will feed all children, regardless of need or legal status. I guess needy elderly citizens are a low priority, relatively speaking.

perhaps the costs of the lunches are significantly less so instead of doing nothing for everyone they're doing something for someone.
I think Jesus wold approve and I also think you just want to complain and not be aware of the real reasons. Besides, maybe the seniors are old illegals and hippies. Maybe that will make you feel better about it.

@ grouchy taxpayer. Thank you for providing the Meals On Wheels article link. IF YOU live in San Mateo County - I guess your beef may have some calories behind it. The reporter mentions that the San Mateo County MOW program has funding problems - and the Santa Clara County program is being fully funded.

Wonder why the higher per-capita-income county has a problem this this MOW (seniors) program, and my county does not. Maybe - a difference in public policy emphasis?

Peace & Love
