There is no money. Maybe eliminating some positions and offering early retirement then using that money can pay for the increases.
The "open and vacant positions" should be left that way. It saves money.
Do we really need valet parking at the County Building? Eliminate unnecessary positions.

In response to Robyn you said:

“There is no money.”

Correct due to things like Prop 13 and the way that conservative lawmakers think by starving the government it will produce higher productivity, or less governess. So this is the end result, you said:

“Maybe eliminating some positions and offering early retirement then using that money can pay for the increases.”

But there is severe understaffing at this time, automation cannot take this work over as of yet. So you will have longer waits for any work being done by Santa Clara County. Maybe you should think about this. You said:

“The "open and vacant positions" should be left that way. It saves money.”

But if you are a company wanting to avoid loss of income due to delay of projects that need permits from the county, that will be a loss. Things are going have consequences far beyond just your “bottom line” description. You said:

“Do we really need valet parking at the County Building? Eliminate unnecessary positions.”

I agree that this is very weird. But from what I see, there is a removal of current parking in that office due to construction, but the County must remain operating in it. And it not goes for County Workers, it is free for ANYONE doing business in the County Building.

Just a thought.

Has giving the Government more money ever been enough?
Or do they always need more taxes, more fees, more bonds that have to be paid back with more taxes.
