Have observed supporters of Warren, Buttigieg, Yang and Bernie at public venues. Many (not all) of the Bernie supporters seem to think yelling and creating a ruckus is the way to attract support. Bernie cannot win swing/red states IMHO. Aside from that Bernie and Biden both past their sell by dates. But will Vote Blue no matter who, I won't pull the Berner's 2016 sour grapes stunt of voting for #45, not voting, or write-in. Fully 12 percent of people who voted for Sen. Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic presidential primaries voted for President Trump in the general election. #45 sends his thanks.

Any functioning adult; since the republicans won't run one, I guess it's a den.

Voters deserve to know the PPIC poll gave "respondents the option of selecting the top five candidates who qualified for Tuesday’s Democratic (Iowa) debate. It did not include Bloomberg or Yang as rotated choices in live interviews." The poll also reported a margin of error of 6.5 percentage points. Source-Sacramento Bee: Web Link

Well then Christopher, it did not include the only Californian still running: Tom Steyer. He seems solid. If the Democratic establishment does not favor Steyer, that may indicate just how he could win swing states. He is not a Washington DC insider. The winner is determined by swing states (absent electromic vote-switching Russians will surely attempt - once again).

I don’t understand how any American can vote for Bernie Sanders (even Elizabeth Warren as she moves further toward socialism. Don’t they know what happens under socialism - past and present (Hello Venezuela)? Don’t they know that capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty and provided more financial stability and upward mobility than any other economic system?

@MVresLASD

Did you watch them tonight? The whole thing? Then you know they are not socialists. Perhaps you do not understand the difference.

If you're happy with Trump, McConnell, Kavanaugh and the direction of our country amid the largest income inequality since the gilded age, then save yourself the time, don't watch - keep it tuned to Fox.

Who is “they”? I didn’t know Sanders is going by that pronoun now. I said I don’t know how any American could vote for Sanders because he’s a socialist. I didn’t need to listen to the debate to hear that he’s not a socialist because you know who else says he’s a socialist? Sanders. (Though I am listening to the debate now.)
In fact, I’m very happy with Trump’s economy, thank you. I’m happy for the people who have been able to secure a job as a result of it. And for those who have seen an increase in their incomes, as part of the overall increase in median incomes over the past three years.
Anyone who has traveled quickly realizes that the poorest 10% of people in this country are rich in comparison to large portions of many countries. We are very blessed in this country. :)

The Scandinavian countries are doing quite well under socialism. Why do they always get ignored? Norway, for example, has more of its economy under state ownership than Venezuela. They're some of the happiest, most prosperous people on the planet!

- "Who is “they”"

You conflated two candidates in your earlier post, thus 'they'. Short memory?

- "you know who else says he’s a socialist? Sanders."

No. [Portion removed due to disrespectful comment or offensive language]

Sanders refers to himself a Democratic Socialist. See Mr Richards comment above about Democratic Socialism and the wildly successful Scandinavian economies.

- "In fact, I’m very happy with Trump’s economy, thank you"

You are welcome, but no need to thank me, you are actually thanking *Barack Obama*. As Mr Obama is a true gentleman, I'm sure he sends his regards for your appreciation.

As highlighted on these boards by others, it was President obama who turned the economy around from the Bush recession.

Others have posted 10 year monthly job charts, 10 year domestic growth charts, etc.. The all clearly show that Trump is benefiting from the extended Obama recovery.

Here's a growth chart showing the great Clinton years, the Bush disaster and Obama's recovery:

Real GDP growth of the United States from 1990 to 2018

Trump is incredibly lucky to follow the Obama recovery.

Obama Recovery? Really?

Thanks for the laugh!

- "Obama Recovery? Really?"

Yes, really. Numbers are a stubborn thing. Some folks are data adverse or have a hard time understanding them. For those, we have easily readable charts. Charts are particularly useful for the Koolaid crowd that have not been exposed to hard data.

Did you read the economic growth chart above? Clear as day - the Clinton Boom, the Obama Recovery from the Bush Recession, Trump riding the Recovery. Once again, here's the link: Web Link

A more relevant indicator - Job Growth: 10 years of monthly job reports - including Bush Recession, Obama Recovery, Trump coattails
Web Link

So the only questions left:

- are you afraid to look at a chart?
- are you done with commenting now that the facts are out in front for all to see?

Here's an annual jobs chart from 2006 to present (Blog disallows too many links)

I know, I know, certain tweeters want just to talk about the Dow (not generally an economic indicator, here's the market from 2006 to Sept, again the slide up follows the Obama Recovery Web Link

Where's the business investment we were promised with the trillion dollar tax cuts for corporations in 2017? Not here. Again, the Obama recovery Web Link

Out of links for a single post. Want to talk wages? Consumer Confidence? Middle Class income?

Preferred flavor Koolaid with which to swallow hard data and facts?

(we know you looked at them, and you're speechless)

Let's talk wages - the Obama Recovery from the Bush Recession, with Trump riding the Obama Recovery: hourly wages

Here's a Consumer Confidence chart. Again note the trend and direction - Trump continues to benefit from trends established during the Obama Recovery.

Note: normally when confidence is high, businesses spend more, but that hasn’t been the case under Trump, as highlighted with the chart above on corporate investment.

It's a shame that the PPIC poll was printed in our paper given its flawed methodology. When the PPIC called voters, they only listed the five candidates that made the last Iowa debate, leaving off Andrew Yang and Michael Bloomberg. The fact that some calls still listed either of them speaks more than the results themselves. Their sample size was small leading to a larger than typical 6% margin of error, which also should give people pause. When poorly done polls are published, it leads to the question of whether the media is leading rather than reporting the will of the voters. We have seen before how damaging bad polls can be. Andrew Yang has qualified for the next debate.

Correction: there were six candidates (not five) in the last Iowa debate. The next event is a CNN townhall on 1/28 & 1/29 with seven candidates, which will include Andrew Yang. More info: Web Link
