Bad headline...California is NOT going to get into the business of manufacturing prescription drugs. As the story notes, the state will negotiate agreements with generic drug manufacturers to buy meds and affix a California label...i.e., California will be a middleman. Will California be able to beat Walmart's $4 generic program where consumers can get a month's prescription for $4? Don't hold your breath! Nothing ever gets cheaper when the government gets involved...compare the rising prices of postage stamps (a government monopoly) to the falling costs of long distance phone service driven down by market competition.

Apple, meet orange....

Quick question: since WalMart is your Panacea, why won't they cover all generics? They drop drugs from their program on a whim.

Also: Those $4 programs have been around for a decade. So you are saying they fixed generic pricing? It's not a problem?

California has had a decade long economic boom, creating much well in many jobs.

Time to address the big problems like outrageous drug costs. Go for it.
