I hope these candidates are capable of discussion without caving in to "climate activists" The Noaa sea levels changes website computes that the sea level is rising at an average of 1.5 millimeters per year. Or, 1.5 inches per century. Threr are many more local and state problems that need fixing.

"The Noaa sea levels changes website computes that the sea level is rising at an average of 1.5 millimeters per year"

Where's your reference for this claim?

I ask, because a quick search I viewed shows you are in error. Here's some minimums (probable 'best' case):

"The global mean water level in the ocean rose by 0.14 inches (3.6 millimeters) per year from 2006–2015, which was 2.5 times the average rate of 0.06 inches (1.4 millimeters) per year throughout most of the twentieth century. By the end of the century, global mean sea level is likely to rise at least one foot (0.3 meters) above 2000 levels, even if greenhouse gas emissions follow a relatively low pathway in coming decades.

In some ocean basins, sea level rise has been as much as 6-8 inches (15-20 centimeters) since the start of the satellite record."

When state senator Scott Wiener came to Palo Alto last year to pitch his SB 50 housing bill, questions were only asked by the pro-SB 50 moderator. Tough questions were not asked. Senator Wiener neglected to even mention that his bill provided for ownership housing. So there ceratinly is a risk with these controlled events that good questions will MOT be asked. But here, at least there could be several candidates with differing views answering each other's questions.

And by the way, Mr. "Business Man," when you provide a link to the actual language of Senator Wiener's latest bill or amendments, provide a link to the FIRST AMENDMENT. Maybe read the First Amendment. And ask yourself: did protesters violate the First Amendment drowning out speakers? And how about this one too: Did protesters have a First Amendment right to ask questions of public officials at a public event on public property. For example, Mr. Business Man, protesters asked repeatedly "where's the affordable housing"? If only you had been there, maybe you could have told Senator Wiener how to answer. Maybe he could have cited the findings or other preliminary statements in SB 50, as last written, that merely refer to a need for more housing people can afford. Evidently, some folks are fooled by such proclamations - imagining they amount to laws that must be followed.

"deniers" - here is the NOAA website: www.tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov. Hope this helps

mike: thanks

I don't see your claim validated on that page, as it's a tide and current predictions page. I found some other non-NOAA sites that make that claim. Possible you are getting your info from them?

One thing from that page:

"The U.S ties record for number of high tide flooding days in 2018 – with more to come in 2019
As relative sea level increases, it no longer takes a strong storm or a hurricane to cause these types of inconveniences. Today, flooding can occur at high tide on a calm, sunny day."

Okay: two things - most of that data is for the US only. Climate is worldwide, and the effects of climate change throughout the world will effect the US, beyond direct effects.

The denier's numbers came from a fringe website, not from NOAA.

Climate change is real, and extreme.

I find an inordinate number of deniers voted for Trump, the guy with thousands of documented lies, not just for the last 3 years, but for decades.

I guess it makes sense.
