I can't imagine losing my family and home on my 18th or 21st birthday, regardless of whatever else I was doing in my life. Actually, I can imagine: I would probably not have finished high school, and certainly not with strong grades. I would have found some kind of menial job that made ends meet but did not allow me the time I actually spent attending college, which laid the groundwork for me to thrive as an adult. It would have made my current adult life almost impossible to achieve, reinforcing the disadvantages that led to a foster home placement in the first place. I think this pilot sounds like a great attempt to soften the disruption and transition for young people.

This sounds like a great idea - a real plus for our society. It gives these kids a chance to make something of themselves rather than sentenced to a life of minimum wage jobs, or worse.

$1-2K per month? Chump change in MV.

$4k minimum for a decent life.
