A different kind of condo complex

Original post made on Nov 9, 2019

If you didn't know what you were looking at, the Mountain View Cohousing Community appears to be like any other apartment complex in the city. Located on Calderon Avenue, it offers intentional living and sharing of community resources.

Common sense is a registered user.

Don't overlook the long history of this topic (the MVCC) here in the Voice. For example, Daniel DeBolt's 2015 story "A modern-day commune in Mountain View" and several earlier articles as the community was taking shape.

The "commune" residents have been good neighbors here in Old Mountain View since MVCC was first occupied in 2015.

The "dumpster farm" out front is reminder of the worst architectural design ever approved by our planning department (I'm guessing, someone may have another example though). The placement of the "dumpster building" evokes a 60's South Lake Tahoe or Chernobyl vibe, not in a good way. The design is an absolute eye sore, although I'm sure the owners are very nice people:)
And if it ever snows 12 feet down here, it's good to know Recology will be able to get to the dumpsters easily.

"Dumpsters out front, RV's on the the street, Party in back" Mountain View is the place to be.
