I'm so sorry for the victims and their families. How awful.
I'm sure details are foggy this early in, but the photos and videos I've seen of the cops surrounding the car show it at the entrance of Rancho. If the peds were hit at the entrance and the car left, but was was stopped by the police at the entrance, it doesn't make sense. Things will most likely become more clear once they release more details.
Thank you, SCCo Sheriffs Dept for getting the driver!!!

Murder? So they think it was intentional. Did the woman know the people she ran over?

Statements so far say that the victims had no association with the driver.
The actual reason for the drivers action could be any number of things: mental illness, distraught person lashing out at society, racial or political motivation, maybe someone just "snapping" with no warning signs, or maybe the initial reports were wrong and an association is discovered.
There are an infinite number of reasons we can all speculate on but until there is more info speculating is worthless. It's simply stuff people imagine in their minds.

It's now being reported that the driver was a woman of Portuguese decent in her 50's.
