We’re paying almost a million dollars so 84 people can each have a small plot of dirt for a garden?
I love gardens too but that’s just a terrible use of taxes !

@ Maya I totally agree that the cost of this garden is outrageous but it probably employed an additional 8 landscape consultants who have to make a decent living. They certainly don't have enough talented Park and Recreation people to install 84 raised beds and irrigation system. The fence and shed alone was probably came close to breaking the budget. I think this gardexty85n got short changed though my 1 acre neighborhood garden has a 1.6 million budget. There is money to burn in MTN view. Remember this the next time you vote.

WTF...
City offers compost for free. So the dirt could have gotten for free. $650k construction cost could have hired 3 googlers at $200k each, and work for a full year. It's just some raised bed, what kind of fancy design do we need?

Nearly a million bucks?!?
Those are some expensive tomatoes. What a boondoggle.

All those pine trees by the plots. Full of squirrels.
Very few tomatoes will survive to grow to fruition there, so even the tomatoes will not offset the million dollar idea. The Voice will be running that story in a couple of monmths I bet.
Could have maybe housed four or five families on that acreage. Maybe more. But thats not a very high priority is it?

Absolute insanity. They should have just told the gardeners to take over the land for free for the first couple of years and let them develop it after pointing them to a city supplied water source and a pile of shovels. That's real gardening. There, I just saved the city $1,000,000

This is fine- just as long as someone doesn't plant any marijuana than I guess it's OK.

The citizens of California voted to make marijuana legal to consume and grow. Why shouldn't these people be able to grow cannabis... Especially for medicinal purposes. Marijuana is legal!
