Appeals court says class action lawsuit against Facebook can proceed

A federal appeals court in San Francisco ruled on Thursday (Aug. 8) that Facebook users in Illinois can proceed with a class action lawsuit challenging the social media company's use of facial recognition technology.

I hope they settle for more than the phoney $125 per person that the Trump administration us got from the Equifax scandal.

Facebook should absolutely not be allowed tag people in photos without their permission. I have no relationship with facebook, and no photo of me should be uploaded or tagged with my name by users or facial recognition. I'm not very familiar with the Illinois law but I wish and would vote for more laws limiting this privacy violation. And I agree with the previous poster. Facebook's record-setting fine last time was almost immediately offset by a stock gain. This time multiply the fine by 10 and maybe it will make a difference.
