YES. I miss having a store covering the gap between the TrueValue size and Home Despot.

I sure hope there are some full time jobs for people. But the higher min wage in MV makes me think this will be 90% part timers. Which is OK for part timers....unless they do the usual retail trick of a different shift every day, different days every week.

Good for you, Aces!

So that means skip Home Depot/Lowes/Amazon and patronize our Mtn View Hardware stores. Everyone was complaining about lack of grocery store downtown, we have Ava's but it has been a struggle. Not enough people patronize our local businesses. Get out your wallet!! Walk the talk!

The closure of stores sadden many people. It's so good to know ACE is making a come-back! This will bring happiness to many people in the community!

Great news for property owners, just amazed the city or Lenny didn't try to outlaw Ace in favor of low-income or rent control housing and RV parking.

@ Big Al - Ah come on! I spend a good deal of time in hardware stores, and I've rued the loss of Minton's, Barron Park, etc. As Mountain View grows we need to figure out how to hold on to the stores and service businesses that make our community tick.

I would have preferred another hardware store had taken that spot.

We lost Mintons...

We lost Hubbard and Johnson...

We lost Orchard Supply...

At least we still have Ace and I am glad they are expanding, but now they are moving to the far side of MV. We no longer have any hardware stores near downtown.

I can't wait! No more trips to the big box stores. Finally, something good happening in Mountain View.

Hey, @ That MV guy!

We DO have a hardware store near downtown: Blossom True Value on El Camino near Shoreline, just a few blocks from Castro. The owners offer an amazing assortment of products that, with occasional purchases via Amazon, have helped me avoid big-box stores. My local True Value carries 90-95% of what I need for day-to-day projects, and it's just a few blocks away. You can buy 3 screws of size-whatever, where other stores sell them in boxes of 100. And the owners/staff are nice and helpful. Another small local business worthy of our local support.
