New York Times special feature Sunday is on the importance of local papers like the MV Voice

Original post made by Christopher Chiang, North Bayshore, on Aug 4, 2019

The New York Times special feature Sunday is on the importance of local papers like the MV Voice for the well being of the community. Many cities around us do not have a local paper anymore. Lets do our part to make sure we still do. I hope the MV Voice can create options for residents to be members similar to PBS/KQED with varying price points for membership matched with 100% free open access to the news, rather than the current model of high price paywall subscriptions which limits both readership and supporters.

See your point Christopher. But, as a 'subscriber' I enjoy a bit more service than the FREE NEWS SERVICE that I get from Embarcadero Publishing. (a for-profit corporation)

So, when I'm lazy and let my 'subscription' languishes, I only get a throttled-down version of the information-spicket I normally like to drink from! SO - git out the checkbook / or credit card / and transfer assets to Embarcadero (they run in a profit-based environment)

This year (late-again), I decided to not take the 50% senior discount - and gave them full-measure. Andrea, Kevin, Mark and Co. / they deserve it.

MAYBE - After 5 "comments/posts" each month, require a subscription to POST MORE! (and more - and more, and more? / with more & more $$)
