Housing units are cells in jails and prisons. But, that does describe much of the new high density tenements springing up around the valley, ie. no privacy, no views (except into the neighbors unit), smelly cooking, cramped space, noise at all hours, etc.
Before inviting more people in, take care of those who are here. Help with grants the mandatory retrofit. It is our tax and fee money anyway.

Sure. Eliminate parking. Have renters park on the street. Maybe YOUR street. Great plan. More money for landLORDS. How about also converting storage units at apartment complexes to rental units?

This isn’t a bad idea, but the extra parking required needs to spill over somewhere, and I doubt these landlords could afford to put seismically qualified underground parking in.

Ground floor housing or as it will be know as Parking lot bedrooms since the cars will still be driving or parking right next to these units. Or else these become high density housing. Or will we ban cars and make only bike parking?
