"mechanical issue"
Like someone switched the gas pedal and the brake when they weren't looking?

Distracted or confused driving is much more likely

BDBD is a registered user.
A similar incident happened the next day in front of Tea Annie's/Great Clips on Miramonte, except that the SUV didn't break the plate glass window. I hope everyone stays safe out there.

what make of SUV? is a registered user.
Not a Tesla by any chance? A Tesla just crashed into a nail salon on Miramonte today, Tesla also crashed into a school building in April in Los Altos.

Reading the article first may answer questions prior to them becoming questions. Good luck.

Believe me, if it was a Tesla it would have been mentioned in the headline, and about 12 times in the article itself

The article clearly says Honda, but the Tesla haters still bring up Tesla

-- and the Tesla apologists/advocates/owners/employees likewise automatically become defensive, as in the last two comments.

Dispute the fact that the car in this particular story was not a Tesla. <Waiting>

Mechanical issue? Yes with the driver's foot. Amazing how older drivers are in denial about their failing mind and motor skills.

If the mechanical issue involved the car moving forward without your foot on the accelerator, and/or with your foot on the brake, that is the only valid reason.
Side note, that never happens. People are afraid of the financial impact so they lie.
