The whole thing is a scam to discourage legal voting in districts with large non-white populations. Just like like the old poll taxes and what some states are doing now to make make it hard for low-income people to satisfy the voting ID requirements in those states. I'm glad that the Supreme Court is seeing through these scams.

Actually - read the 'decision'. Roberts said come back with it, but not to make it so freaking obvious.
Voter suppression is real. Suppressing the count of POC is real. Oddly, states like Texas support it, when it will cost them millions in federal funds when Texans are under-counted (documented, or undocumented.)

this is more fake news being spread by the left-wing media. The Trump administration is absolutely going ahead with the citizenship question on the census. Read the president's Twitter account. Mountain View Voice you should have the professional integrity to correct or retract your story. it is ridiculous to say that asking whether the respondent is a citizen is illegal.. It was part of the census for over 100 years until it was removed by the democrat Clinton and Obama administrations.

The question as posed lumps together everyone who is not a US citizen. If someone replies no, they could be any one of several types of visa holder or green card holder. Does the US know how many people live here under visa or green cards? Should they know?

"Read the president's Twitter account."
I do. Do you? He contradicts himself on so many subjects, frequently within days or weeks.
He told us he was done with the question, then told us he wasn't. He's lying to his base, and most are too stupid to see it.

The only reason the state is angry abut this question is because they would get less federal money if we didn't count the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens here as if they were legitimate residents. It has nothing to do with voter suppression. California doesn't care about clean voter rolls as it actively resists the calls to audit the voter rolls and remove ineligible persons from the list.
The only people who should be voting are American citizens and the census should give us an accurate count of those people. California should spend less money fighting to perpetuate fraud and more money serving the citizens.

It's so beautiful when the racism from people like you comes into contact with what the Constitution actually says. The seething anger in your post is the usual outcome.
