Oakland decriminalizes psychedelic plants while MV Police hemorrhage our tax dollars arresting non-violent people supplying these valuable substances to peaceful consenting adult citizens. SAD!
Nowhere in the article is there even the slightest claim that any of the drugs in question caused any problems for anyone. The only person who MAYBE deserved arrest was the intoxicated woman, and her drug of choice is thought to have been alcohol (the hardest hard drug of them all).
(Not talking about the person who allegedly "failed to register as a sex offender," a claim for which the Voice didn't seem inclined to do even the most basic research or offer any supporting background.)

Who pays for MVPD services related to Shoreline Concerts? is a registered user.
Wow what a surprise, unruly behavior from fans at Shoreline Amphitheatre. Clearly not all fans are troublemakers, but lets face it, the lineup is not made up of 'A' list entertainers. How many arrests occur at Mountain Winery, at San Jose Jazz Summerfest and at other venues? It seems Shoreline, has the record, after nearly every event we have reports of arrests, drugs, drunken brawls. Sick of it, who pays for MVPD services? It's a downmarket venue, needs to be torn down.

There's another article today about how this concert was completely botched and a terrible experience for attendees, so much so that they are demanding refunds. So in summary, we're allowing concerts to be held that attract low-life drug dealing scum, that bring crime, terrible traffic, and noise pollution, that are so awful even the attendees hate them. What's the benefit to the city of Mountain View?
The Shoreline Amphitheatre has become a public nuisance and should be shut down.

40,000 people attended the concerts over two nights and ~only~ six were arrested? THAT is the real news.
"In past years, the department has arrested as many as nine people when Dead and Company performs at Shoreline Amphitheatre."
So 0.0225% of the people that attended were arrested. Wow, what a menace to society!!
How many are usually arrested at a rap show? A country show? Quit profiling and show some objectivity.
Just so you don't profile me, I have been a Mountain View homeowner for 26 years and did not attend the shows.

Nobody is profiling anyone. The concert attracted many out-of-town drug dealers to Mountain View, five of whom were caught. This isn't a unique situation to the band that happened to be playing, it seems like almost every concert features reckless (sometimes murderous) behavior by out-of-town concert attendees. The solution isn't to ban the band, it's to close the Amphitheatre. There should be no "safe space" for drug dealers or drug abuse in Mountain View.
"Neighbor" - I'm surprised that you're okay with hosting these events, which are a magnet for drug dealers and illegal activity, if your own neighborhood.

> Wow what a surprise, unruly behavior from fans at Shoreline Amphitheatre.
False. There was only one arrest for so-called "unruly" behavior and that was an allegedly drunk (on alcohol) woman. And that "preceded" the concert. It happened at 12:20 a.m.(?) according to the article.
All the others arrested were engaged in non-violent consensual behavior. If the police hadn't arrested them you would have no reason to know about them, or rail against them.
"Prohibition... goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes... A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.” - Abraham Lincoln
JR: You seem to be under the impression that concerts in other venues are somehow free of drug sellers and users. Perhaps you'd like to close every major concert venue in the country?

Ha you do realize there are drug dealers in probably every MV and LA park. We tried to open a safe space for buying drugs but panicked people got that shut down. Don't worry, the teens will keep buying (or turning down offers) outside of established venues regardless.

I'm not under the impression that concerts in other venues are somehow free of drug sellers and users. I am under the impression that concerts in other venues don't bring drugs, crime, and violence into my neighborhood.

You hear that City Council? 5-7 people want to shut Shoreline Amphitheatre down. Better get right on that or we might offend their sensibilities!
