I look forward to learning whether my 10-year-old even remembers when the fountain was running. He used to toddle around the rim.

Care to report what the final cost was? Even if it were the $28k (it probably doubled) that’s over $5k per year of being off. No way the cost of running it is over $5k per year. So the city residents end up paying for the city council to virtue signal for 5 years.

This is peak Boomerism, where turning off a decorative fountain during a drought is considered "virtue signalling." Get over yourself, snowflake.
