A letter all of the way from Sunnyvale for SB 50? One hopes no one from Mountain View would support it. SB 50 has been put on hold in the State Senate but could be re-activated any time. Plus, the corporations are pushing lots of different state bills to secure more housing for more employees. Whether local land use decisions regarding housing are given to developers (under SB 50) or to regional boards under corporate control or influence, the result will be 4-7 story luxury condos or hugely expensive apartment complexes near you with little or no onsite parking. More housing will provide some tiny trickle down benefit to middle-income residents - unless all of the new housing is used for workers just arriving.
