The answer is forthcoming as I have emails out to both MVWSD and MVLAUSD. In asking the principal at our children's school, we found out it is in the thousands of dollars. School lunch debt is for a variety of reasons; maybe a family qualifies for reduced lunch rates but makes too much for free lunch and is struggling in this high rent community. Or, a family doesn't qualify for any assistance and is trying to survive in Silicon Valley because it is their community.
What are we, as community members to do about this? Contact the principal of your child's school and ask how much that debt is and how you can pay it. What to do if you don't have a kid in the school system? Contact the district and find out how to pay down that debt. Let's support families in our community.
